How to Find Out if a Product Has Caused Others Injury

How to Find Out if a Product Has Caused Others Injury

When you make purchases, you have a right to expect that you will not incur any harm if the product is used in a proper and reasonable manner. When you use a product as it is meant to be used, and that use results in injury, there is a problem. Fortunately, if you have questions about a product, you can find out if it has caused others injury.

Products on the Government Recall List

When a product defect is common enough, the recall is announced on the news. This happens with food products that make a significant amount of people sick and cars with defects that cause accidents or may potentially cause one. Occasionally, you will hear about a toy or child’s product such as a car seat or high chair being recalled. These are the stories that make it on the evening news. However, there are many products that are not reported in that way.

There is a recall list put out by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission. This list describes recalled products and their flaws. It also provides information on who to contact regarding the product. For example, H&M recalled children’s bathrobes because of a violation of the flammability standard. An image of the bathrobe along with other information is listed, including proposed actions for consumers.

FDA Regulated Products

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration also has a recall list for those items regulated by the FDA. This list includes market withdrawals and safety alerts as well. It is drawn from press releases and other public notices about products regulated by the FDA, but it is not a complete list.

The FDA list provides the date of the recall, a description of the product including the brand name, and company. It also provides the reason the recall was made on the product. Consumers can find a particular item by using one of the filters provided on the website.

Products listed on the FDA site are those deemed to present a significant risk to consumers. There is also a weekly Enforcement Report, which is a classified list of all the recalls.
