How will a Florida DUI conviction affect me other than the criminal penalties and the license loss?

Transcript:

That depends on the circumstances. However, there are multiple consequences potentially for getting convicted of a DUI. We call those collateral consequences. Things having nothing to do, necessarily, with the criminal punishment.

You might have a responsibility at work to report a DUI. You have a responsibility under certain licensings depending on what it is that you do for a living. If you’re a real estate agent, or a nurse, or a med tech, doctor, lawyer, bondsman, anybody that’s licensed by the state has an administrative responsibility possibly to report that DUI. It could affect your ability to make a living under that license. There’s a lot of different things that are possible, and I really recommend you consult with an experienced lawyer in figuring out what those consequences are before you plea or go to trial on a DUI.
