In Florida, the Marchman Act requires a petitioner to file a petition that alleges a person has a substance abuse problem and that, as a result of that substance abuse problem, they are a danger to themselves or others, or the substance that they are abusing has so clouded their judgment that they are unable or unwilling to voluntarily seek treatment for their substance abuse.
